May 20, 2020 nearly 2,000 people from across the world attended the Changemakers United online summit held by Ashoka with support from Zalando, the BMW Herbert Quandt Foundation, McKinsey & Co, and Apax Partners LLC, and the 20 Ashoka Fellows in the Changemakers United accelerator initiative.  

The summit was accessible to all since Ashoka believes that everyone has the power to be a changemaker. The summit’s closing plenary included notable Nobel Prize laureate and Ashoka Fellow Mr. Kailash Satyarthi interviewed by Ashoka Europe’s leader Marie Ringler.

The summit’s purpose was to raise resources (financial and expertise) from attendees and partners directly for the 20 Ashoka Fellows in the accelerator program as well as spotlight the innovative solutions Ashoka Fellows have developed in response to the global pandemic. 

The Changemakers United summit developed as part of Ashoka’s COVID-19 response. The accelerator program includes 20 Ashoka Fellows across Europe with COVID-19 responses relevant at the height of the crisis as well as long into the future. The initiative supports these Ashoka Fellows by matching them with experts tailored to the Fellows’ needs, as well as raising financial resources for their work.
